KCIST brings together KIT scientists conducting interdisciplinary and cross-divisional research on timely and cutting-edge topics that are fundamental for addressing the challenges of a modern digital information society and economy. Progress in this direction cannot be imagined without digitally-driven scientific and technological breakthroughs and without taking a comprehensive holistic view on the development of methods and technologies for realizing complete technical systems.

KCIST addresses burning research questions and develops cutting-edge technologies and systems for digitalization and for application-driven artificial intelligence. This is achieved by bundling interdisciplinary expertise and competences across KIT divisions, including informatics, economics, electrical and mechanical engineering, information technology as well as social science.
